Wheat Production Harvest 2011
Farming4profit reserves the right to change following values without warning. All prices are 'ex farm'.
Growers need to be ACCS registered at the point of sale.
- Winter / Spring Wheat – Feed Wheat +£15/t premium.
Einstein Yield. Eastern, Southern Counties & Midlands. Contract of the Season
a. No hagberg or protein standards required!
b. Needs to follow a break crop NOT an early driller
c. Base price can be forward fixed, flexibility available as required
d. October-drilled achieved 12.5t/ha Harvest 08. Nov drilled 10.5t/ha. Jan drilled 9t/ha. Feb - 8.5t/ha. March - 7.5t/ha
e. British-bred HGCA recommended - this is not an obscure 'import'
f. Seed cost between £360 and £380/t spd delivered
g. NB: normally sold out by Jan - need to order in late Sept.
- Winter Wheat - End October after sugar beet / Potatoes
a. 25% premium over the 13% Solstice Bread making Wheat Price
b. SIGNIFICANT VALUE /TONNE
c. True winter wheat - drilling no later than 30th Jan
d. Full milling specification required - specific market end use

Break Crops Harvest 2011
- Winter Linseed A potential alternative to winter oilseed rape in the right situation
a. Split contract Price - Half at 15% premium over the ex farm price of rape / Half at £275/t ex farm minimum or market price if greater at movement
b. Any region south of Edinburgh, excluding Cornwall & Wales (at these prices)
c. Mid - late July harvest - far easier to combine than spring Linseed
d. Does not like compacted or ground prone to water logging.
e. Pigeons, flea beetle, slugs less problematic than rape BUT can cause damage if not controlled where excessive.
f. Pigeons generally graze rape in preference to winter linseed.
g. Significant crop alternative where slug pellet application rates on rape are becoming a major issue.
h. Ensure seed bed is lightly rolled to avoid frost lift.
i. Grass and BLW herbicides available pre & post em. Stale seed bed best start. Significant chemicals now available to control even black grass.
- Winter OSR - Special Oil Contracts - HOLL
a. V1410L improved establishment and yield over Splendor
b. Only pay seed cost for area established by mid October.
c. Premium + crushing price + oil bonus - flexibility on crushing price / movement
d.
Varieties have good disease resistance & suit differing soils
e. Contracts for 2011 harvest on hold due to over supply in market. This is primarily attributable to one crusher. Other players in market are re-establishing positions.

- White “Mammoth” Millet –
up to Vale of York. Pictures of 2008 crops
a. Not prone to damage from pigeons, rabbits or pheasants
b. Bred for UK conditions, – excellent late spring
crop.
c. Ideal for light or medium soil type, following sugar
beet, potatoes or as an extra break to extend OSR rotation.
d. Not susceptible to any known disease in UK.
e. Probably the best combinable spring crop available –
must be viewed.
f. Serious alternative to winter or spring oilseed rape.
g. 100% UK-grown seed. Fully traceable. Guaranteed purity - not to be confused with any other white millet contracts available. Mammoth millet is the ONLY white millet seed grown in the UK to strict standards - beware of foreign imports!
Winter Oats – Feed Wheat base price+ up to 30% as bonus / tonne.

Tonnage Commitment: Grower commits any amount of Fixed Price, Min-Max and Open Price tonnage for the selected Movement Period. Allowances: All allowances by negotiation Where crops are not grown from seed supplied by the merchant some discount to the above prices MAY be proposed. If the grower fails to achieve an acceptable malting specification the grain is marketed as feed barley through the merchant concerned. The merchant will not default growers who fail to achieve malting quality.
