Other Details: |
Mammoth MIllet seed 'ex farm' has been trading at approximately twice the price of feed wheat and was at £280/t February 08. Growers of 2008 crop returning average gross margin of £550/ha.If yields of winter oilseed rape are 3.2t/ha or less, winter beans less than 4t/ha, spring beans variable at 3.7t/ha.spring rape 1.9t/ha, linseed 2.2t/ha. then Mammoth Millet will return a higher income. Rabbits and pigeons will not eat it, nor pheasants - ideal to replace failed grazed winter oilseed rape. Suitable for any soil type except bolder clay. Particularly suitable for light and marginal land such as Breckland. Drilling early May, excellent alternative to Linseed. Use for last lifted sugar beet field, or after spring veg. Pictures of Lincolnshire crop drilled after leeks. Ideal for cheap grass weed control especially to hit resistant black grass or ryegrass - stale seedbed opportunity, plus cheap Glyphosate controls autumn and spring. Ideal for low fertility land coming out of setaside, or alternatively late drilling position if setaside position not known by May 08. Factor into rotation now as national contract area limited. Millet is related to maize so similar herbicide chemicals apply. 'Bomb Proof' Full Agronomy Summary here |
